Fujifilm has announced the X-T100, the latest mirrorless camera model in the X Series lineup and an even more affordable sibling of the $900 X-T20.
The X-T100 is an entry-level body in the X Series stable for photographers who are willing to give up some feature, specs, and portability offered by the X-T20 in order to save on cost.
Inside the X-T100 is a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor (not X-Trans) with a high-speed imaging processor (not X-Processor Pro). The sensor has an ISO range of 200-12800 and is extendable to 100-51200. The continuous shooting speed is 6fps, down from 14fps in the X-T20. Startup time is 0.4 seconds (with High Performance mode on, or 0.8s with it off).
The 91-point Phase Detection Autofocus system in the camera uses the same algorithm originally designed for the high-end flagship X Series models.
One intelligent feature found in the X-T100 is the SR+ Auto mode that detects both the subject and the scene at the same time, selecting the best settings for capturing the best shots of both. It’s “perfect for situations where it is difficult to select the right settings, or when a series of quick shots is what the photographer is after,” Fujifilm says.
On the back of the X-T100 is a 3-inch 1.04-million-dot LCD touchscreen that can be tilted in 3 directions, including horizontally to nearly 180 degrees (perfect for selfies and vlogging, Fujifilm says).
Above the touchscreen is a 0.39-inch, 2.36-million-dot OLED viewfinder with approximately 100% coverage and a magnification of 0.62x (with a 50mm 35mm-equivalent lens).
Despite being a low-end X-Series camera, the X-T100 is still capable of 4K video recording for up to 30 minutes per clip. There’s also 1080p at up to 60fps and high-speed 720p at up to 4x.
Other features and specs of the X-T100 include a weight of 15.8oz/448g with battery and memory card (up from 13.51oz/383g of the T-20), 11 Fujifilm film simulation modes, 17 variations of Advanced Filters, a microphone port for external mics, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity, a pop-up flash, and a battery life of about 430 frames.
The new Fujifilm X-T100 will be available in Black, Dark Silver, and Champagne Gold starting on June 18th, 2018, with a price tag of $600 for the body only or $700 when bundled with a Fujinon 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens.
